Tips On Choosing Air Conditioner

>>> Choosing The Right Contractor

Avoid choosing a contractor who has little knowledge about how to cover the area in accordance to air conditioner. There might be contractors who provide an estimate size for the unit required, based upon the floor area of house. Instead, they should calculate the cooling that a home needs according to the preset guidelines available in several manual guides. He should roam around the house to gather information like measurement of each room. That includes - floors, ceilings, and walls. Other factors account as the cooling load formula that requires indoor and outdoor temperatures, number of house occupants, the shading available and the roof color.

>>> Calculating the Heat Levels

Make sure you ask your contractor to consider latent cooling load, which is calculated based upon the latent cooling load i.e. the humidity of air and the sensible cooling load i.e. the temperature of the air.

>>> Check The Ducts

Once the contractor fits the air conditioner, check for factors like duct leakage and broken ducts. They should be of sufficient size to ensure the air passes unrestricted. The leakage could be evaluated by using diagnostic equipment. For this, ask the contractor if he has all the requisite equipment like the device and quality duct sealants.

>>> High-efficiency unit

These days, heating and cooling air conditioners that are available in market are initially approved by the federal law to ensure they are energy saving. The prices for these energy efficient products seem a little more expensive than others, but it manages to compensate the same by saving on future electricity bills. These units could be identified via the energy star labels.

>>> Replacing The Entire Unit

For those who are considering to replace their existing units with new ones, it is important to replace the entire unit. Do not try to save money by keeping some of the previous elements like inside coil and the blower fan. Without replacing these units, you cannot expect the unit to provide desired performance. Also, there are chances that you might have to spend extra in replacing these old parts some time sooner.

>>> Ease of Maintenance

There are times when the air conditioners are fitted in such a way that it becomes almost impossible for the service people to clean them. Make sure your AC is placed so that the inside coil could be reached easily for cleaning or replacement. The air filter should be placed where it is easy to clean or remove.
